Data Transfer Using SFTP

Version2 uses a secure file transfer process to receive portfolio and gift data from your organization and to return processed data and reports back to you. This article outlines how data is transferred, where files live, and how to connect to Version2’s Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP).

Overview

Data is exchanged between your organization and Version2 using Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP). This allows you to:

• Upload Portfolio and Gift files from your CRM
• Receive processed data and reporting files from Version2

All transfers occur in encrypted, access-controlled environments.

Files Sent to Version2

All files your organization sends to Version2 should be placed in:

/transfers/to_ver2/

These files are scanned automatically by Version2 for processing.

Files Sent from Version2

Any files generated by Version2 and returned to your organization can be found in:

/transfers/from_ver2/

This includes items such as Data Return Files and reporting outputs.

Note: To ensure smooth transfer and processing, please DO NOT create additional folders or subfolders on your Version2 SFTP.

How File Processing Works

Version2 automatically scans your secure SFTP directory for newly added CSV files.

• Version2 initiates the upload and processing workflow.
• Gift and Portfolio files should be uploaded weekly, if possible.

File Naming Conventions

Files must follow these exact naming conventions:

• Portfolio files:

  version2_portfolio_mm-dd-yyyy.csv  

• Gift files:

  version2_gifts_mm-dd-yyyy.csv  

• Portfolio Management files:

  version2_pm_mm-dd-yyyy.csv

Files that do not follow these conventions may not be processed.

Connecting to the Version2 SFTP Server

First-Time Login

1. Navigate to:

   https://ftps.givzey.com:8080

2. Log in using the credentials provided to you.
3. You will be prompted to change your password on first login. Follow the instructions to set a new, secure password.

Option 1: Connect Using Your Own SFTP Client

Once your account is set up, you may connect using the SFTP client of your choice.

Connection details:

• Server: ftps.givzey.com

  Port: 2022

  • If port 2022 does not work, port 22 is also available
• Directory path: /transfers/to_ver2/
• Username: Provided during setup
• Password: Set during first login

Manual File Uploads

In some cases, you may need to upload a one-off file rather than automate the process.

To manually upload a file:

1. Go to https://ftps.givzey.com:8080
2. Navigate to the transfers folder
3. Open the to_ver2 directory
4. Upload your file(s)
