How the Version2 - RE NXT API Integration Works
Learn how Version2 connects to Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT (RE NXT), what data is included, and what your team needs to prepare before getting started.
How the integration works
Version2 connects directly to RE NXT through Blackbaud’s SKY API. Once the connection is authorized, Version2 retrieves your configured constituent, contact, portfolio, and giving data from RE NXT on a daily recurring sync.
With the integration in place, your team does not need to run recurring queries, prepare exports, or upload inbound data files to Version2.
Important: The RE NXT integration is one-way and read-only. Version2 can retrieve data from RE NXT, but it does not currently write data back to your RE NXT database. This will follow in a future phase.
Your organization will receive a Version2 return file through the CSV/SFTP process, which can be imported into RE NXT to log your donor & VEO communications.
How data moves between Version2 and RE NXT
| Direction | Method | Data |
|---|---|---|
| RE NXT → Version2 | Blackbaud SKY API | Configured constituent, contact, portfolio assignment, and giving data |
| Version2 → RE NXT | CSV/SFTP return file | VEO outreach activity, notes, and other return data for your team to import |
Version2 Customer Steps
Before authorizing the integration, work with your Version2 onboarding contact to:
- Identify a Blackbaud administrator who can connect the Version2 application to your RE NXT environment.
- Confirm the email address that will be used for the authorization has been submitted to Version2 and set-up as a user.
- Obtain the Application ID provided by Version2.
- Complete the RE NXT Customer Configuration Template with your portfolio, gift type, contact record, address, and birthdate preferences and send back to your Version2 onboarding contact.
For more information about these configuration decisions, see Configure Your Version2 - RE NXT Integration.
What data Version2 can access
Based on your approved configuration, Version2 can retrieve information including:
- Constituent records assigned to the VEO
- Primary contact information
- Addresses
- Giving history
- Fundraiser and portfolio assignments
The records included in the integration are also subject to Version2’s active and eligible record rules.
For field-level details, see RE NXT to Version2 Mapping.
What happens after you authorize the connection
After your RE NXT administrator completes the authorization process, the connection will appear as Active in Version2.
Version2 will then begin the initial data sync using your confirmed configuration. Your Version2 onboarding contact will let you know when the initial load is complete and your VEO is ready for the next step in implementation.
